ELIX ABS grades for exterior B-Pillar projects

Product / Solution
B-pillar outer moulding

Description

The outer trim of a car’s B-pillar is a very demanding part, both technically and aesthetically. It usually has two components, combining ABS or ABS/PC with polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA). We use ABS or ABS/PC to provide the structural part needed for attachment to the pillar, which requires high temperature and impact resistance.

PMMA allows us to achieve a high-gloss finish on the outside, as well as offering protection against ultraviolet radiation and environmental conditions. In addition to these properties, the ABS or ABS/PC selected must offer good processing, excellent surface quality and compatibility with the PMMA.
