ELIX Polymers puts its trust in Lean culture

ELIX Polymers fully understands the value of its customers and concentrates its key processes on continuously increasing this value. For this reason, for many years now, the company has put its trust in Lean culture, to help create greater added value for its customers and to allow them to be more and more competitive and efficient.

For the third year running, ELIX Polymers has organised its Lean event, with the objective of sharing success stories in the application of Lean principles in the company, through their employees.

The event content was designed so that the participants could study real-life examples of how the application of Lean methodologies using the talent of their staff achieves extraordinary economic benefits.

During the session, representatives from different areas of the company shared their experience in implementing continuous improvement techniques and presented their respective A3 stories. A3 is a problem-solving tool based on the Deming Cycle (PDCA) that facilitates problem-solving and maximises learning and cooperation within the organisation.

A total of 5 presentations were given, in which each person responsible for the A3 discussed and shared their reflections about the singularity and difficulties encountered in introducing improvements in work processes.

“This event has served to enable us all to learn from each other, sharing our successes and our main problems. It has also enabled us to observe different approaches, depending on the department in question“, says Anna Riambau, Customer Service Representative at ELIX Polymers.

LEAN 2019 AWARD

At the end of the event, and with a view to acknowledging the effort, commitment, perseverance and teamwork of all the persons involved in the continuous improvement projects, all those attending voted for the best A3.

The winning project was “Correct Plant Waste Management”, a success story expressed in the evolution of all its indicators and the assimilation of a work methodology that will make it possible to rise to future challenges with better guarantees of success.

“At ELIX, we promote the personal and professional development of our staff by encouraging them to take a step forward and embark on the Lean journey, a journey that entails facing the challenge of improving every day”, says Narcis Vidal, Operations & Supply Chain Director at ELIX Polymers.

ELIX Polymers has succeeded in positioning itself in the thermoplastics market not only due to the quality of its products and its personalised service, but also due to having the capacity to identify improvement opportunities that add value to its management and enhance the abilities of its team of professionals.
