ELIX Polymers, a leading manufacturer of engineering thermoplastics, announces the launch of the new PC/ABS GR 5120 grade, specifically developed to meet growing demand in the automotive industry for materials that combine aesthetics, performance and sustainability.

This new material stands out for its low-gloss matte finish, a highly-desired feature in vehicle interior design, where reduced surface reflectivity contributes to a more refined and modern appearance. Unlike other PC/ABS grades currently available on the market, ELIX Polymers’ new product offers a significant reduction in surface gloss without compromising mechanical or thermal performance.

With excellent impact resistance, dimensional stability and robust thermal behaviour, this new PC/ABS meets the performance standards required by automotive component manufacturers. Additionally, its high weatherability, low emissions and low odour levels make it an ideal solution for interior applications, where air quality and long-term durability are essential.

Target applications for this new grade include a wide range of interior automotive components, such as instrument panels, centre consoles, decorative trims, door panels and ventilation grilles. These parts benefit not only from the material’s matte aesthetic, but also from its technical reliability and compliance with industry standards for emissions and durability.
