RecyClass recognizes "ELIX ABS HH 3110" resin as compatible with ABS automotive and EEE recycling streams
ELIX ABS HH 3110 by ELIX Polymers becomes the first ABS resin to earn RecyClass Technology Approval and be designated as a control material for ABS recyclability testing. This represents a major step in RecyClass’ effort to provide the industry with clear, sector-specific recommendations for plastics recyclability.
Following extensive testing conducted at Proplast in line with the Recyclability Evaluation Protocol for Automotive and EEE Resins, ELIX ABS HH 3110 has been officially recognized as fully compatible with the ABS Automotive and EEE recycling stream.
ELIX Polymers’ high-performance ABS resin is modified with poly(styrene-co-maleimide) and is known for its high heat resistance. This makes it ideal for demanding applications such as automotive exterior parts like tail-light housing and spoilers, as well as vehicle interior components, such as center console trims, door components, and dashboard parts. Additionally, the material is used in a variety of electrical applications, including sockets and switches.
Based on the good performance during testing, the material has now been included as a control material for performing RecyClass Recyclability Evaluation Protocol for ABS plastic components. This is a critical step towards establishing reliable and tested benchmarks for assessing the recyclability of ABS materials, helping stakeholders in the automotive and EEE industries make informed decisions about material selection and recycling compatibility.
These results support RecyClass' ongoing commitment to providing robust protocols to achieve the recycling targets set out by European legislation, helping to accelerate the transition to circular plastics for the automotive and EEE sectors.
