The AEQT companies make a donation of ventilation equipment and PPE to the region of Tarragona amounting to 330,000 euros to help fight the coronavirus
The member companies of the Association of Chemical Companies of Tarragona (AEQT) have donated 12 ventilators with different characteristics and personal protective equipment (PPE) worth 330,000 euros to 4 hospitals in the region of Tarragona to help fight the coronavirus epidemic. The equipment will be distributed to Hospital Universitari Joan XXIII in Tarragona, Hospital Universitari Sant Joan in Reus, Hospital de Sant Pau i Santa Tecla in Tarragona and Hospital de Tortosa Verge de la Cinta, to enable these 4 hospitals in particular, and the regional health system in general, to improve their capacity to attend to the most serious cases of COVID-19 that require assisted ventilation systems.
In accordance with the Health Region of Camp de Tarragona, and in coordination with the management of these 4 hospitals, the donation made by the AEQT companies has made it possible to purchase 6 anaesthetic and ventilation machines from the company Dräger (these machines have a double function and are currently those with the greatest availability), 2 respiratory ventilation machines and 4 portable emergency ventilators. In addition, a variety of protective equipment (PPE) will be purchased for health professionals. Making a total purchase of 12 machines with different characteristics. The order has already been processed and the equipment is expected to arrive very soon. The distribution of this material among the 4 hospitals has been decided in accordance with the criteria of the health authorities.
As a member of the AEQT, ELIX Polymers participates in this initiative and is also participating in other collaborative efforts that are critical and essential for society at present, such as donations of the necessary materials for hospitals and the provision of raw materials to companies that supply the healthcare and food sectors.
