We have a management system to define the responsibilities, objectives and actions related to the prevention of occupational hazards in the workplace.

At ELIX, we have evolved towards a global vision where health and safety are closely related and approached with a common strategy. In 2019 we defined our healthy company strategy, focused on physical, social and emotional well-being, and which stems from six core concepts, affecting both the organization and its social environment:

ELIX is a company with zero incidents, for yet another year

In the last seven years we have significantly reduced the number of accidents
The most common accidents are: blows, cuts and burns. The areas with the most accidents are Compounding and Polymerisation, while in Maintenance and Laboratories there were no accidents in 2019.
Through an accident rate analysis, we defined a series of action plans for Occupational Health and Safety:
Twice a year we partially halt plant operations so we can carry out maintenance tasks and make investments in new equipment. This year inspections focused on safety in processes, maintenance and cleaning as well as the general inspection of pumps and mechanical seals for reactors. In addition, we connected different compounding control systems to the new Safety Programmable Logic Controller (PLC).
ELIX Polymers celebrated its third edition of Safety Week. For 3 consecutive days, a wide variety of participatory events were held with the aim of raising awareness among all ELIX employees about different aspects of job safety and well-being, as well as bringing more visibility to the adoption of healthy workplace habits.
Our focus this year was on the launching of the wellness programme Feel Good, an initiative to help promote the company's culture of safety and well-being at the physical, mental and social levels. In this way, we materialised our people-centred commitment, creating a safe and sustainable workplace.
One of the most highly rated activities was Emotional Gymnastics, a workshop where participants received tools for learning how to identify their emotions, understand them, and manage them in a positive way through internal dialogue.

To guarantee that safety and sustainability are incorporated into all processes, we apply our standards to the external companies who work with ELIX, confirming their adherence to our rules and policies on safety and environmental protection in the contracts we sign.
