ELIX shows commitment to Voluntary Agreement Programme

ELIX Polymers’ high level of commitment to the environment, both in terms of the products it produces and the manufacturing processes it uses, has led it to become part of the Voluntary Agreement Programme driven by the Catalan Office for Climate Change (OCCC), through which it undertakes a voluntary commitment to reduce its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions beyond the levels required by the regulations.

Being part of this programme involves carrying out annual monitoring of its GHG emissions and implementing measures to reduce these emissions, while remaining true to the programme’s four principles: wilfulness, commitment, transparency and rigour.

On 10 November, ELIX’s total annual emissions and action plan were verified, and it moved up from “associates” of the Programme to “committed” status, and obtained the seal of approval.

Judith Banús, SHE & Site Service Manager, and Maria Romeu, Environmental Management Technician, represented the company at the Certificate ceremony, which took place at the headquarters of the Catalan Government, in Barcelona.

The company’s commitment to this programme allows it to have an advanced strategical position in terms of the environment and climate change, providing an added value for the company’s services, products and projects.

The Voluntary Agreement Programme began in mid-2010, with the aim of providing a framework for organisations wishing to show their commitment to reducing GHG emissions. Within five years, 131 organisations had joined the programme.
